The present invention relates to a closing unit for an injection molding machine with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
Due to the high closing forces that are to be achieved in an injection molding machine, it is often advantageous to provide separate drives for fast movements of the movable platen (Eilhub) and for the structure of the closing force (compression stroke). It is necessary to perform a lock before the closing force build-up, since the Eilhubvorrichtung is not designed to withstand the high closing forces. This locking is usually done via attached to the face plate or on the movable platen locking nuts. In this case, an inner profile on the locking nut cooperates with an outer profile on a column of the closing unit and thus prevents movements of the column and thus the plate attached thereto relative to the locking nut. There are essentially two prior art designs for these locknuts. One uses a split nut, the halves of which are brought together and removed to lock and unlock the column. In the other construction, both the inner profile and the outer profile do not extend over the entire lateral surface of the pillar or inside of the nut. To unlock the nut is rotated so that no threaded areas are engaged, so that the column can be moved.
A disadvantage of both designs is that between the In-position-bring the movable platen to build up pressure and the pressure build-up itself a locking movement of the mother must be done. This has an adverse effect on the cycle time and ultimately on productivity.
The object of the invention is to provide a closing unit of an injection molding machine, which allows a shorter cycle time compared to the prior art. 2/12
This object is achieved by a clamping unit with the features of claim 1.
This is done by the mother is rotatably mounted and by the outer profile and the inner profile are formed as constantly engaged with each other, self-locking thread. For movements of the column, the mother can thus be easily rotated. However, because the threads are designed to be self-locking, column movements are prevented during the closing force build-up.
It is not essential to the present invention whether the pressure mechanism is hydraulic or electrical or in any other way.
Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are defined in the dependent claims.
For locking units with a front plate, the lock can be solved particularly easily by the mother is rotatably mounted on the end plate. As a result, space problems are avoided, which can arise during attachment to the movable platen, since this yes, for example, can already be placed tools or ejector. Nevertheless, a rotatable mounting of the mother on the movable platen is conceivable. For a particularly precise control or regulation of the movements of the movable platen it can be provided that a rapid traverse device has an electric drive.
In order to guarantee a quick and trouble-free opening and closing of the closing unit, a guide device can be provided, which couples a shaft of the drive with the mother in a motion-locking manner.

Particularly simple, this guide device can be designed as a belt drive.
To ensure that the lock is good enough, a brake device can be provided to block rotational movements of the nut. This can then be e.g. be activated during the closing force build-up and ensure that no unwanted creeping movements of the nut happen.
Protection is also sought for an injection molding machine with a clamping unit according to the invention.

FIG. 1 shows an injection molding machine 20 which has a machine frame 16, a fixed mold clamping plate 15, a movable mold clamping plate 9 and an injection device 14 shown schematically. The printing mechanism 2 is arranged on the movable platen 9 in this embodiment. This closing unit 1 has an end plate 7. For rapid movement of the movable platen 9, a rapid traverse device 8 is provided. This has a spindle drive 11 and an electric drive 10. In this embodiment, the drive 10 is designed as a hollow shaft drive, the shaft 13 also serves as a mother of the spindle drive 11.
The column 3 has an outer profile 4 and is fixed to the movable platen 9. The face plate 7 is shown only schematically, so that the locking nut 6, which is embedded in it, is visible. The locking nut 6 has an inner profile 5 (see Figure 2a), which cooperates with the external thread 4. The thread pitch is chosen so that there is a self-locking effect under closing force build-up.
Furthermore, a guide device 12 is provided, which couples the movements of the shaft 13 with those of the nut 6 in a motion-locking manner. In this embodiment, the guide device 12 is designed as a belt drive.
Figure 2a is a detailed view of the embodiment of Figure 1. In this sectional view, the inner profile 5 of the nut 6 can be seen. All other reference numerals correspond to those of Figure 1.
This also applies to Figure 2b, which represents a further embodiment of the invention. The printing mechanism 2 is in this case arranged in the front plate 7 shown in detail. The co-guiding device 12 is designed so that slight, caused by the closing force build-up movements of the locking nut 6 are tolerated.
The present invention is not limited to the embodiments shown here. For example, the invention can be readily used in vertical machines. The belt drive is not absolutely necessary. The entrainment device 12 may, for example, also be designed as two synchronous, electrical drives which are seated on a common shaft.
